Wouldn't go to Mexico for free. Numerous places I wouldn't go for free.

Don't care how long the stretch is to get me to my plane.

stayed in PV for 6 weeks about 4-5 years ago.. great place imo.. alot to do....no issues ..I would recommend staying away from the main tourist hotels.. go further down the beach..

I have been 2 times in the past 3 years. Was scheduled to go again last year but covid cancelled that trip. It is much safer than LA. Very friendly people, very welcoming to tourist. Great food, many places to eat, lots to see and do. I would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing getaway.

I have been going to PV for over 30 years. Last 15 years been renting a condo for 2 to 3 months. There are lots of things to see and do. They have some of the best restaurants around. If your looking for upscale it's there. It's a real town where people live and work not like Cancun
Plenty of stores to shop and malls. If you want action the casino is there. One drawback is a tax on winnings. In all the years going I have never had any trouble but then I am not out at 4am. If you do go stay in PV not north of the town where all the timeshares are. This will enable you to walk around and get the true experience of town. One thing if gay and dikes bother you don't go. Other then that I would highly recommend it. If going for a month rent a condo.

well said.. the gays and dikes are further south in PV. they seem to have their own bars to hangout in..... alot of Canadians hanging out in that district as well.. not sure how that corelates...lol some of the best food I've ever had is in the main part of PV....no reason to be afraid if it looks like a hole in the wall establishment.. those places have the best food imo.

For the record - everyone I know that has gone to Mexico comes back with COVID - that's how I got it - to ur topic - yes, Cancun is a shit hole - but Playa del Carmen or Tulum or Cabo are pretty nice - never been to Puerta Vallarta

Can you elaborate on Playa del Carmen. Was planning on a trip there.

All 3 of those places are great .. I agree , stay away from Cancun
